Jorge Esteves

Director of Infrastructure and Networks, ERSE

Jorge Esteves has been Director of the Infrastructure and Networks Department at the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) since 2004, with responsibilities in the electricity and natural gas sectors.

He holds a BSc, MSc and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico of the Technical University of Lisbon, obtained in 1983, 1986 and 1992, respectively.

Since 2005, he has collaborated, as an ERSE representative, in several working groups of the CEER (Council of European Energy Regulators) and ACER (Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators). From 2006 to 2009, he served as coordinator of the CEER working group on quality of service in the electricity sector.

He was also active as a university lecturer at Instituto Superior Técnico for 21 years, where he served as Tenured Assistant Professor until 2004. During that period, he also worked as a researcher at the Automation Centre of the Technical University of Lisbon.

Following a public competition, at the beginning of 2004 he took office as Coordinating Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering for Energy and Automation at Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon.

Jorge Esteves is the author of more than 70 publications, including books, journal articles and conference proceedings at both national and international level in the fields of electrical engineering and energy.
